Nearby Cotswold Villages and Small Market Towns

Famous for the yellow of its stone buildings the Cotswold villages are no doubt some of the prettiest places in England. Set amid glorious Gloucestershire countryside but only a few minutes drive from us. We have specially prepared directions with route maps around the villages below so your day's out are planned for you.

CHIPPING CAMPDEN
Just over the hill from us, this old market town famous for its wool trade years ago is undisturbed by its visitors and life goes on here as in the past. Tea rooms old fashioned shops, good restaurants, and country pubs. HIDCOTE GARDENS famous National Trust property is close by and a garden lovers paradise, as is KIFSGATE GARDENS lesser known but just as beautiful. See gardens in To See & Do

MORETON IN THE MARSH 
Old fashioned shops and tea rooms. Famous in these parts for its Tuesday market which takes over the whole of the High Street. BATSFORD ARBORETUM AND COTSWOLD FALCONRY CENTRE are nearby.

STOW ON THE WOLD
Smaller that Moreton and rather more quaint. A good place for lunch or browsing around the old fashioned shops. (No high street stores here).

THE SLAUGHTERS two small villages with pretty thatched cottages nearby are not to be missed.

BOURTON ON THE WATER
One of the prettiest villages in the Cotswolds, but can be busy in main season.
Water does run through the village and ducks and geese abound. Visit the Model Village or the Cotswold Motor Museum (good value for money). 

NORTHLEACH
Your next port of call along the A429. Smaller and much quieter than Bourton
a pleasant restful place to wander around. Visit the COTSWOLD COUNTRY COLLECTION OR KEITH HARDING’S WORLD OF MECHANICAL MUSIC whilst here for a glimpse of years gone by. On to the A40 to Burford.

BURFORD
A small but busy Cotswold town. Teashops and country inns abound among old fashion shops, situated along the High Street. There is a shop selling garden statues of all descriptions and there is a large garden centre nearby.

LECHLADE
Along the A361 calling at the next market town of LECHLADE and then on to FAIRFORD. The delightful small hamlet of BIBURY nearby with the trout stream running past the old cottages is totally unspoilt and worth a visit.

BROADWAY
On your way back visit BROADWAY one of the most famous villages. Black
and white shops, cosy tea-rooms and country pubs are to be found along the High Street.

SNOWSHILL
At the end of Broadway High Street turn left towards SNOWSHILL, less famous but one of the prettiest villages in the Cotswolds,  Time really has stood still here with its pretty cottages and village church.  A visit to SNOWSHILL MANOR a famous national trust property, with it's many interesting artefacts and splendid view from the tea room down the valley will be long remembered. Visit the Lavender fields nearby (no charge) excellent light lunch or afternoon tea.
